Segment, man! Yes Charlie Parker masterfulness all the way.

Charlie had this genius about his melodies that we have never seen again. The just were always spot on and in fact he just played what he was hearing.

That is a real testament to how jazz players should be approaching tunes- by listening to everything goin on around them and playing lines that are in the moment.

Yes - all the theory works as well, but it is supporting part, not a main part of the improvisational aspect of the music.
